Oklahoma State Report Card
Oklahoma State Report Card
Why is the Academic Achievement indicator important?
The Academic Achievement indicator uses annual state test scores in English language arts (ELA), math, and science to show where groups of students are relative to grade-level expectations outlined in our Oklahoma Academic Standards (OAS). This indicator uses two equally weighted components to examine the improvement of each student group in the same grade from one year to the next: Improvement Toward Expectations (ITE) and the Performance Level Snapshot (PLS). Together, these components reveal how well schools are closing gaps and supporting all students in being ready for the next grade, course, or level. More information about this indicator can be found at sde.ok.gov/oklahoma-report-card-resources (pdf).
Academic Achievement
The composite represents the percentage of points earned by students meeting the criteria for this indicator. This is accomplished when students meet or exceed their priority student group target and/or score basic, proficient or advanced on state tests in ELA, math, and science.

Improvement Toward Expectation
Each priority student group has an academic achievement target designed to meet students where they are and help them move toward or maintain the same high expectation: proficiency. This component of the Academic Achievement indicator accounts for 50% of the indicator score.

Performance Level Snapshot
Achievement levels indicate how prepared our students are for the next grade, course, or level relative to end-of-year expectations outlined in our Oklahoma Academic Standards. Students scoring at the basic level demonstrate partial mastery, while students scoring at the proficient or advanced levels demonstrate mastery.
